Fostering Community on and off-line for International Students and Scholars

Presentation Description: This panel discussion will focus on strategies schools can use to develop strong communities within international student and scholar populations - both on-line and in-person. Drawing on the experiences of on-line platform providers, in-person mission-driven organizations that foster intercultural understanding, and college and university practitioners, panelists will discuss lessons learned in creating meaningful communities.

Learning Objectives:

  • understand the importance of fostering communities to ensure successful and meaningful experiences for international students and scholars while in the US.
  • apply strategies learned in the session to create strong communities among their student and scholar populations.
  • share best practices in encouraging participation in communities of support for international students and scholars.
