Presentation Description: Institutions are recognizing the critical role of first-year programs in ensuring that students have a strong start to their academic journey and thrive in their college life. Our presentation will provide an overview of the current literature on the needs/challenges faced by these students, delve into the common obstacles they encounter, and we will introduce our institution's first-year program designed specifically for new international students. This includes tailored courses, support services, and peer mentors which have proven effective in helping students to acclimate.
