Reimagining International Student Orientation: Leveraging Case Studies to Drive Engagement

Presentation Description:

This interactive workshop will guide participants through the process of reimagining international student orientation by using case studies. We will begin with a brief overview of traditional orientation challenges, highlighting the need for more engaging pedagogical approaches, and delve into the theory behind using case studies as a teaching tool. Participants will then engage in a hands-on activity where they will develop their own case studies in small groups.

Learning Objectives:

  • Participants will learn about the effectiveness of using case studies in teaching complex, real-world issues to international students, enhancing both engagement and comprehension.
  • Attendees will gain practical skills in designing and implementing case studies that are relevant, engaging, and reflective of the diverse experiences of international students.
  • The session will explore strategies to incorporate students' perspectives and experiences into case studies, ensuring that orientation is responsive to their needs and insights.
