Assistant Director of Admissions/ISSS
SUNY Broome Community College
Binghamton, New York
Susan has been in the International Education field for over 25 years. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Business/Economic Management: International Business from SUNY Empire State, and her Master's in Education from Concordia University-Portland. Susan's higher education career began at a 4 year private university; where she was introduced to the international student population. The Office of International Programs was a small office, that oversaw, incoming F1 and J1 students, outgoing study abroad students; international exchange partners, and short term (faculty-led) study abroad programs. In 2015, Susan transitioned from the 4-year private school, to a 2-year public school (community College). As the Assistant Director of Admissions/ISSS, she oversees the International Admissions, International Education, and the Global Experiences Office. Her passion is being able to assist any and all international students no matter what immigration status. There are many resources that some students may not know they have access to. Susan also feels that all students should travel abroad for at least one semester while in college, it should be mandatory. Her involvement in international education is what brought her to wanting to be involved more. International students are sometimes left on their own once they get to college, and she is working on changing that. Fun fact about Susan is she has a 2-hour (one-way) commute to work. It just proves how much she loves what she does.
